Description
A well-grown clump of Euterpe edulis just screams 'tropical'. The thin stems and arching leaves are graceful and make one think of the steaming Amazon Basin. Surprisingly hardy they look great in clumps or as solitary palms.
Origin
South-eastern Brazil, Ecuador, Argentina, and Paraguay
Form and size
Solitary palm to 8+m.
Preferred habitat
Outdoors with protection from wind. Looks best if grown in groups and in sheltered gullies. Water well in summer. Also suitable for indoor use tolerating low light.
