About NZ Palms

Like many family-run businesses, NZ Palms, Cycads and Subtropical Plants began as a hobby. A hobby that became too big. We began tentatively selling almost ten years ago but have largely kept our focus on growing a wider range of beautiful plants for New Zealand gardeners and landscapers.

Now, at Easter 2024, we’re relaunching the business with an ever-growing variety of plants.

The business is run by Mike and Rosemary, 20+ year Northland residents, with support from their son, Phil, and help – of a sort – from two small cats: George and Albert.

As well as supplying the best palms, cycads and subtropicals around we’re committed to saving beautiful plants that are threatened by habitat destruction. We strongly believe that commercial horticulture and landscaping can play an important role in saving endangered species. For us rare plants shouldn’t be hidden in botanical gardens but available for everyone to grow, love and preserve.
